We are thrilled to share what Freya achieves as a Reading Plus Champion
this academic year!
Within her role, Freya has the opportunity to complete a series of exciting reading activities throughout the year, including:
- Reviewing new (and unseen!) texts yet to be added to Reading Plus.
- Sharing her experience of Reading Plus in a blog titled ‘My Reading Plus Journey’.
- Expanding her reading further and reviewing books outside of Reading Plus.
- Collaborating with us on interviews with children’s/YA authors.
As she progresses through her Champion duties, all her tasks will be added here – so look forward to more amazing activities being published soon!

I feel really excited that I have been chosen, and it was a big moment for me when I found out. I like Reading Plus because I enjoy reading new stories and then being quizzed on them. It doesn’t feel like work. It’s more enjoyable.

How do you feel about becoming a Reading Plus Champion?
I feel really positive about it and I am very grateful that I got chosen!
What books do you plan to buy with the voucher you received in your Champion Prize Kit?
Probably some adventure books.
What do you enjoy most about reading?
The excitement that the book brings into my head. It’s just magical!
Can you tell us about your favourite author/book?
I do not have a favourite author, but my favourite book is Dog Man: The Scarlet Shedder.
Out of all the books you have ever read, who is your favourite character and why?
Matilda, because she is courageous and fights for what she believes is right.
What is your favourite hobby and why?
My favourite hobby is art, because I’m really good at it and I enjoy it.
Imagine you just won the lottery, what would you spend it on?
Christmas and birthday presents for my family and a holiday.
If you found a genie in a bottle, what would be your three wishes?
- My brother to have a remote control so I can turn down his volume and sometimes put him on mute.
- I pass all my GCSEs.
- I get an amazing job when I am older that I like.
