Meet Jack
We’re delighted to introduce one of our Reading Plus Champions, Year 4 pupil Jack from Ribbon Academy.
Jack’s teacher, Kim Flower, nominated him for the role and shared with us:
“Jack is our rising star through Reading Plus. His dedication and effort don’t go unnoticed while he modestly works his way through the programme. We love Jack’s determination as he strives to better himself – showing all his Ribbon Virtues.”
The role of Champions
At Reading Solutions UK, we are devoted to accelerating reading progress while instilling a love for reading in our students. One way in which we do this is by appointing Reading Plus Champions who have the opportunity to complete additional exciting tasks, including:
- Reviewing new (and unseen!) texts to be added to Reading Plus.
- Sharing their experience of Reading Plus in a blog titled ‘My Reading Plus Journey’.
- Collaborating with us on interviews with children’s authors.
We’re thrilled to publish Jack’s first blog as part of the role. Get to know more about him.
I enjoy reading because you can get more information. My favourite author is Roald Dahl. My favourite book character is the Winter Witch.
If I was a superhero, I would be Spider-Man because I could climb buildings and get around faster.
When I’m older, I want to be a window cleaner like my dad. I love to play football.
If I won a million pounds, I would help people.
If I had three wishes:
- My first wish would be to give peace to the world.
- My second wish would be to be a pro footballer.
- My third wish would be to make everyone happy.
Encouraging reading for pleasure
Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background, or their income.
Reading Solutions UK is dedicated to not only improving students’ reading skills but also developing a reading for pleasure culture in schools with Reading Plus, with a range of extra initiatives, including:
