Meet Luna
We’re delighted to introduce one of our Reading Plus Champions, Year 6 pupil Luna, from St Paul’s Catholic Primary School.
Luna’s teacher, Victoria Wilson, nominated her for the role and shared with us:
“Luna consistently exhibits a dedication to enhancing her literacy skills. Her genuine interest in exploring diverse literary genres underscores her commitment to promoting reading as a source of enrichment and enjoyment.”
The role of Champions
At Reading Solutions UK, we are devoted to accelerating reading progress while instilling a love for reading in our students. One way in which we do this is by appointing Reading Plus Champions who have the opportunity to complete additional exciting tasks, including:
- Reviewing new (and unseen!) texts to be added to Reading Plus.
- Sharing their experience of Reading Plus in a blog titled ‘My Reading Plus Journey’.
- Collaborating with us on interviews with children’s authors.
We’re delighted to publish Luna’s first blog as part of the role. Here she shares all about her passion for reading.
“Hey there! Luna here, and I’m so excited to share a bit about what makes reading so special to me.
“Honestly, there’s something magical about getting lost in a good book; it’s like a calming escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My go-to author, Laura Ellen Anderson, crafts these amazing stories, and my absolute favourite character is Ray Grey – a ten-year-old from Anderson’s books.
“When I’m not immersed in stories, you’ll catch me doing what I love most – writing and drawing. It’s my way of bringing my imagination to life, just like Anderson does with her words.
“And guess what? If I could have any superpower, I’d choose to fly! Imagine soaring through the skies, feeling the wind rush by – pure adventure, right?
“Looking ahead, I dream of becoming an author myself. Creating worlds and characters that resonate with people, just like Anderson does for me, sounds like the coolest thing ever.
“Now, if a genie magically appeared, my top three wishes would be to have a furry friend, become a famous author (duh!), and, well, who wouldn’t want a bit of extra cash, right?
“Oh, and if I ever hit the jackpot and won a million pounds, you bet I’d save some for the future and share the love by donating to charities. Because kindness is key, and we could all use a bit of magic in our lives.
“Here’s to adventures in books, dreams of flying, and the journey toward becoming an author – that’s me, Luna, signing off! ✨”
