Meet our Reading Plus Champion Reem

Meet Reem

We’re delighted to introduce one of our Reading Plus Champions, Year 6 pupil Reem from Winton Primary School.

Reem’s teacher, Megan Buston, nominated her for the role and shared with us:

“Reem is a conscientious and dedicated learner in all subjects, and prides herself on her ability to support others. She is committed to learning new things and tries to be the best she can be in everything. She is a role model for other pupils in her learning.”

The role of Champions

At Reading Solutions UK, we are devoted to accelerating reading progress while instilling a love for reading in our students. One way in which we do this is by appointing Reading Plus Champions who have the opportunity to complete additional exciting tasks, including:

  • Reviewing new (and unseen!) texts to be added to Reading Plus.
  • Sharing their experience of Reading Plus in a blog titled ‘My Reading Plus Journey’.
  • Collaborating with us on interviews with children’s authors.

We’re delighted to publish Reem’s first blog as part of the role. Here she shares all about her passion for reading.

What do you enjoy about reading?

I enjoy imagining the story and I also enjoy how the atmosphere builds up slowly as you read.

Can you tell us about your favourite author/book?

My favourite book is Death on the Nile. It is my favourite because I really enjoyed all the mystery and clues before they revealed the truth of the story.

Out of all the books you have ever read, do you have a favourite character?

My favourite character is Enola Holmes from the book series.

What is your favourite hobby?

My favourite hobby is art.

If you had a superpower, what would it be and why?

Teleportation, so that I can always be on time.

What do you want to be when you are older?

I want to be a detective.

Imagine you just won a million pounds, what would you do with it?

I would donate £500,000 to people in need. I would share the rest with my family.

If you found a genie in a bottle, what would be your three wishes?

My three wishes would be:

  1. Happiness to the world.
  2. To visit every place in the world.
  3. To have power to help others.

Encouraging reading for pleasure
