Congratulations to Rory, age 9, from Eldon Grove Academy, who has been awarded our Star of the Month for his hard work and dedication to Reading Plus!
Eldon Grove Academy’s Y5 Teacher and Digital Learning Lead, Cara Lord, nominated Rory for his “dedication to Reading Plus. He always goes above and beyond” when using the programme. She said:
“Rory has been working really hard on Reading Plus since starting in Year 5. He has already progressed five levels and really values the programme; he is always very focused when we are on Reading Plus in class. Rory always goes above and beyond by going on Reading Plus routinely at home. He has been a role model to all students using the programme.”
To recognise his reading efforts, we awarded Rory as our Star of the Month, gifting him a trophy and a £25 book voucher.
Rory said: “What I like most is the sense of achievement I feel when I level up or earn a combo. I always know I’ve read really well when I get all the greens, which makes me feel proud!”
Cara finishes: “Reading Plus has made a significant impact on our school. We use it across Key Stage 2, and it is built into our weekly routines. Children are motivated and excited by Reading Plus, always wanting to celebrate their achievements when moving up a level or earning a combo. They like sharing new facts they’ve learned from their reading.”
We’ve seen how students’ engagement in reading and their pace and fluency has improved greatly since we introduced Reading Plus.
