Meet our Star of the Month Winner, Emilia

Congratulations to Emilia, age 10, from Ribbon Academy who has been awarded our Star of the Month for her incredible progress and enthusiasm to Reading Plus.

Ribbon Academy’s E-Reading Coordinator, Leanne Slayer, nominated Emilia because of her “unwavering dedication to the programme”, she continued:

“Emilia completed Reading Plus at the Primary Level, even though she is only halfway through Year 5. We are amazed by her reading ability and her comprehension level. Her reading speed is so high that even some adults in school can’t keep up with her!”

Emilia was awarded Star of the Month by Reading Solutions UK and received a trophy and a £25 voucher to recognise her reading efforts.

Speaking about how Reading Plus has impacted Ribbon Academy, Leanne said:

“Reading Plus has had a massive impact in more than just improving pupils’ reading, it has also increased their vocabulary massively. It has improved their world knowledge, understanding, and articulation.

“I see Reading Plus as a tool to help teachers, parents, and students, as well as to help with missed learning. It is very useful because you have a guide that tells you exactly what pupils are struggling with and gives you lessons, power points and resources.”

Emilia was delighted to win the Star of the Month award. When asked her thoughts on the programme, she said:

“’I love Reading Plus because it really has improved my reading over time and it matches your reading speed to what is comfortable for you, to make reading easier. I also love how you advance levels, and it gives you a huge range of books to choose from. It’s great how it [the programme] congratulates you and celebrates your achievements as well. I also enjoy the vocabulary and visual skills tasks. Overall, I think Reading Plus is a very good way to help you to improve and enjoy your reading.”
