Win Reading Plus
To be in with a chance of winning Reading Plus for your school, students are to submit a poem titled ‘Winter Wonderland’. Aside from the title, students have free creative rein! They can be fun, silly, or Santa-mental.
Need some inspiration? Scroll to the bottom of the page for some tree-mendous ‘Winter Wonderland’ writing prompts and activity resources.
Poems can be acrostic, rhyming, or non-rhyming and must be no longer than 12 lines.
If you are a parent, carer, or guardian and wish to enter your child’s poem, please speak to your child’s teacher/school first.
The competition is open to non-Reading Plus users only.

Competition key dates
What is Reading Plus?
Reading Plus is an adaptive online reading development programme designed to improve students’ reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary in KS2 to GCSE and beyond.
Key features include:
- Inbuilt summative and formative assessments – results accurately identify each child’s skills gaps and place students on a personalised, age-appropriate reading journey.
- The Reading Plus Guided Window – Students will see texts presented using the patented Guided Window feature to model good reading behaviour – improving their fluency and stamina.
Prizes
Three prizes are available:
- The school with the most votes will win a one-year subscription to Reading Plus (up to 35 licences), including full training, implementation, and support for the duration of their licence.
- The school with the 2nd most votes will win a £200 Amazon voucher and a certificate.
- The school with the 3rd most votes win a £150 Amazon voucher and a certificate.
How to enter
Poem entries must be submitted here or using the link below by midnight on the 13th of December, 2023
- Only one entry per student will be accepted (submissions must include the student’s name, age, and school).
- Reading Solutions UK will shortlist six poems.
- Shortlisted poems will be shared on Reading Solutions UK’s social media channels, and a voting process will occur.
- The prize winners will be the top three poems that receive the most votes.
- Each like, comment, or share is worth one vote.
Voting will open on the 19th of December and close at midnight on the 31st of December!
